Snow and More Snow
Never in my life have I EVER seen so much snow! It started snowing Wednesday night this week and finally stopped on Thursday evening. We first accumulated sleet, then ice, and to top it off, a foot and a half of snow! Our cars were stuck and the entire city of Amarillo shut down. We really enjoyed spending two days snowed in, but when the wind died down and the sun came out, the Liggin's braved the outside. Ian did not enjoy the thick snow in our yard...it was too hard to walk in and the sidewalks were still covered in ice. Needless to say, we didn't manage being out for long, but we snapped a few pics and warmed up with a nice cup of joe.
Happy Birthday Ian!
Ian turned ONE on January 19, 2010 and we had a blast celebrating day after day. We had his official birthday party at our house on January 17. Ian was in rare form as he soaked up the attention he received from family and friends. He was hesitant to dive into his birthday cake and was NOT happy about wearing his birthday hat at all. Ian was too enthralled with his guests to open presents so Fred had to do it for him. Our living room now looks like a display room at Toys 'R Us, but Ian's happy and enjoying his new toys. It was a bit nostalgic hosting his one-year birthday party. It didn't seem too long ago that I was holding him on my chest only seconds after he was born. My mom used to say "It's been a joy watching you grow up," and now I understand where that statement comes from. Ian has brought unconditional love, joy, and peace into our home and hearts that goes beyond understanding or even explanation. Happy Birthday, little man. It's a joy watching you grow up...

Ian's eleventh month
It's hard to imagine that our precious bundle of joy is almost a year old. But here it is, his eleventh month. He walks like a pro and rarely falls...until the game of "chase" begins. He gets so excited and energetic that he often loses his balance and bites the dust face first. No worries though...he's up and running within seconds. "Dada and mama" are spoken randomly throughout the day, along with other sweet sounds that we love to hear. Ian plays hard with toys that make music and loves to read, especially books about "Spot." He's learning to drink from a sippy cup, but still prefers his bottle over everything, including table food. Spaghetti has emerged as his favorite meal, but I've recently learned that any food covered in marinara sauce will do the trick. He's turning into a little boy...a happy, healthy, excited, loving little boy who has changed the way we see the world. The Lord picked Ian to change our lives and that he did.
